WHERE WE ARE

The Full Story

In 2022, the Government of the Virgin Islands launched a Constitutional Review Commission. Over the course of more than a year, the Commission consulted thousands of residents across all the islands, received written submissions, and produced a report with 57 recommendations for updating the territory's constitution.

The House of Assembly reviewed every single one of those 57 recommendations. All 13 elected Members, Government and Opposition, reached a unanimous position: 27 proposed constitutional amendments, backed by concrete commitments to act on many other matters through local legislation.

Those 27 amendments are now going to the negotiating table with the United Kingdom. The first round of talks takes place here in the Virgin Islands in July 2026. This website is your guide to everything that was agreed, why it matters, and what comes next.
